Colorful Fingerless Gloves
Crocheted with variegated yarn in every color of the rainbow.
Materials
- Variegated worsted-weight yarn (~100g) in a multicolor rainbow colorway
- 5mm crochet hook
- Yarn needle for weaving in ends
- Stitch markers
- Scissors
The process
I started with a foundation chain sized to fit around the wrist, then joined it into a round. The body is worked in continuous rounds of half double crochet — the stitch creates a nice dense fabric that still has a little stretch. The variegated yarn did all the color work for me, cycling through pink, teal, yellow, blue, and green as I went.
For the thumb opening, I simply skipped about 8 stitches on one round and chained the same number across the gap, then carried on as normal. Once the glove reached the base of the fingers, I finished off with a round of slip stitches to give a tidy edge.
I made the second glove by mirroring the thumb gap on the opposite side — though honestly, with the fingerless style, both gloves look nearly identical either way.
Tips & lessons learned
- Check your gauge before starting — wrist circumference matters a lot for comfort.
- When using variegated yarn, start both gloves at the same point in the color repeat so they match as closely as possible.
- Weave in your ends as you go — the textured fabric makes it easy to hide them.
- A round of single crochet at the cuff edge makes it feel more polished.
